Dear Mount Royal School Families,

October was an unprecedented month. Given the recent labour action, adjustments have been necessary in classrooms to make up for missed instructional time and to reorganize extracurricular activities. Teachers are happy to be back working with students and are looking forward to the month ahead.

Although students were recently away from school, please note that, at this time, the CBE calendar remains unchanged.

Below you’ll find highlights from recent events, important reminders, and key upcoming dates.

Remembrance Day Ceremony

On Friday, November 7, we will hold our Remembrance Day Ceremony in the gym. This is an important occasion for our school community to pause and reflect. The ceremony will take place between 10:45 – 11:55am, parents are welcome to attend. Students will have the opportunity to donate to The Legion when poppies are distributed or at any time through the main office.

We will also welcome Richard Burke, a veteran with the Royal Canadian Navy as a guest speaker who will address our students

Sports & Activities

  • Soccer – The season has now concluded. Although shortened, we’d like to thank all athletes for their participation! Details about the wrap-up celebration will be shared by coaches.
  • Basketball – The season of play will not be extended due to scheduling conflicts, and our division has determined that games will not occur.  Our coaches are working on putting together an in-school tournament for all interested students, information will be communicated through the daily announcements.
  • Wrestling – All interested students are welcome to join — no tryouts required! Participants must commit to attending all practices and tournaments. The shortened season will now run from November 17 to December 8. Students can sign up on the sheet posted outside the gym later this week.
  • Other Activities – Speech and Debate are underway this week, and additional extracurricular opportunities will be starting up again soon. Students are encouraged to listen to announcements for updates.

Fee Reductions

Please note that option course fees for the first semester and athletic fees impacted by the labour action have been adjusted.
If you have any questions, please reach out. All fees can be paid through your MyCBE account.

Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences will occur on the evening of November 27 and during the day on November 28.  They are a great opportunity to connect with your child’s teachers. Each meeting is 10 minutes long, in person at the school, and students are encouraged to attend with their parents.
Parents must book appointments online through their MyCBE Account.  Online booking opens Friday, November 21, at 6:00 PM and closes Wednesday, November 26, at midnight. Further details will be sent out soon.

Casino Fundraiser

Please save the dates — March 10 & 11, 2026 — and consider volunteering for our casino fundraiser in support of Mount Royal School.
This is our largest fundraising event, and all proceeds go directly back to the school, benefiting our students.

School Council & Parent Society AGM

Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 26, at 6:00 PM and will run for approximately one hour.
It was wonderful to see both new and returning parents at our last meeting. All parents are welcome to attend and support our Mount Royal school community.

Volunteering

We are planning field trips to enrich student learning experiences. These opportunities rely on parent volunteers.
Please consider obtaining a police clearance if you are interested in helping out. More information is available in your MyCBE account.
