Hello Mount Royal Families,
February was another busy month, which saw a change in options for all students for semester 2. Our core classes had a lot on the go with work on various activities for students to engage in their work and meet curricular outcomes. Please refer to the teacher updates for specifics on subject focus. Volleyball season is still taking place with playoffs to commence soon. Given the season so far, I am optimistic that both of our teams will do well! The cast for our musical show “Beauty and the Beast” is hard at work rehearsing and preparing for their performances upcoming in May. In addition, our Open House was a tremendous success and a fantastic opportunity for us to highlight what an amazing school Mount Royal is!
We now find ourselves in March with only 4 months left remaining in this school year. Our students are looking forward to several offsite opportunities that will take place in the month of March. This includes the grade 8 ski trip to Mount Norquay on March 6, the band trip to Edmonton for a festival competition on March 11, and a grade 7 trip to Story Book Theatre to watch A Wrinkle in Time on March 14. I want to thank our Parent Council and all of our parents who are able to participate in fundraising and donations. We are using some of these funds to help reduce the ever-increasing costs of these trips so that all students can enjoy them.
We will be hosting in person Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences on March 21 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm and on March 22 from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. Once again parents will have the opportunity to sign up in advance to book a time to meet with their child’s teacher. Please check your email next week for important information on how and when you can book conferences.
Thank you to every family who had positive conversations with their child about treating every person with kindness and respect, and a reminder to please reach out to Administration and/or a trusted staff member with any concerns.
I also want to remind students to dress for the weather as when the weather permits, students will spend the second half of the lunch outdoors. I hope that the remainder of March will bring milder weather.
Sincerely,
Cheryl McKelvie
Principal
