January News | Happy New Year, Yearbooks, Direct Donation, Fun Lunches, Sport Court

Happy New Year! I hope that the winter break was a wonderful time and that your family made memories to remember.

I am looking forward to the year ahead while reflecting on what a great year we had.  In December, our school days were filled with learning and school activities, and it was great to see our students get into the winter spirit. This included a successful toy drive with the toys being donated to the Ronald McDonald house, a door decorating contest, a winter drawing contest, festive hat day and ugly sweater day - to name a few.  Our Winter Celebration, Sleighin It, was a huge success.  We enjoyed band and choir performances and various dances with over 50 of our students participating.  During our evening show our gym was full of students, families, and friends supporting our students' performances.  It was a great evening and our students put on a show to remember!

We have a busy January ahead in both academics and extra-curricular opportunities. Our wrestling team will continue to practice and compete and volleyball tryouts have just begun.  Information on how to be involved in our school musical will soon be communicated to students. Our grade 7’s will attend a bowling trip which is always a huge success with our students.  Teachers are currently working on report cards which will be posted and available to parents digitally on their MyCBE account at the end of the month. At that time students will change option classes bringing an opportunity for new learning experiences.

Direct Donation Success

As we begin school after the winter break, we wanted to report back on the success of the Direct Donation campaign for the 2023-2024 school year. A big thank you to all who were able to contribute to the campaign and also to everyone who contributes to the school in so many other ways. Your support is valued and appreciated.

The campaign raised a grand total of $5020 from 45 separate donations.  Throughout the year, as funds from the campaign are used, we will let you know how these generous donations help the students and school.

Healthy Hunger/Fun Lunch – January 2024

Thanks to all the parents/guardians who ordered fun lunches for their students through the Healthy Hunger Program and helped raise funds for our school!  Thanks also to the school staff that help administer and distribute the fun lunches!  Healthy Hunger / Fun Lunch continues into the New Year.  Healthy Hunger/Fun Lunch is an optional program.  If you are interested, please sign up at www.healthyhunger.ca

Sport Court Use After 2:50pm Dismissal

The Sport Court, located on the south field of the school yard, is a popular destination for many students after end-of-day dismissal. Please be aware that there is no adult supervision present on the school grounds after school hours. In the interests of personal safety and accountability, we encourage all students to communicate after school plans directly with parents and guardians.
