Hello Mount Royal Families,
We already find ourselves in mid-April and reflecting on our students having a great month in March. Our band trip to Edmonton was a huge success with our students competing in the festival and then having an excellent lesson with an adjudicator. All of the field trips that students attended have been memorable and educational, and we continue to look at providing more opportunities for offsite experiences. Again, I want to extend a sincere thank you to our Parent Council and all of our parents who are able to participate in fundraising and donations. We continue to use some of these funds to help reduce the ever-increasing costs of these trips so that all students are able to enjoy these valuable experiences.
Badminton season is now underway and we have both a senior and junior team. Choosing the teams proved incredibly difficult for our coaches as we had over 140 students try out for the teams and we were only able to take 44 students in total. Our coaches want to thank all of the students who tried out. We know that it is hard when a student does not make a team and we hope that students will continue to try out in the future. We encourage students to come and play badminton during the morning in open gym. Track and Field is the next sport that our school will be participating in, and will be coming up for students in May.
Our musical show “Beauty and the Beast” has announced that they will perform at the end of May and we will reach out when tickets go on sale.
Great news: the yearbook ordering website has reopened and will remain open until Friday, April 26. Yearbooks cost $25 and are scheduled to be handed out to students on or just before the last day of school in June. Visit ybpay.lifetouch.ca and use the school ID 14748124 to order yours. Please note: this is the last chance to order a 2023-2024 yearbook. If you have any questions, you can contact Mr. Spencer at cmspencer@cbe.ab.ca.
Important dates for this month include:
- April 16 – Spring Photo Day
- April 19 – No classes (non-instructional day)
Sincerely,
Cheryl McKelvie, Principal
