Happy New Year! I hope that the winter break was a wonderful time and that your family made memories to remember. I am looking forward to the year ahead while reflecting on what a great year we had. In December, our school days were filled with learning and school activities, and it was great to see our students get into the winter spirit. This included a successful toy drive with the toys being donated to the Ronald McDonald house, a door decorating contest, a winter drawing contest, festive hat day and ugly sweater day - to name a few. Our Winter Celebration, Sleighin It, was a huge success. We enjoyed band and choir performances and various dances with over 50 of our students participating. During our evening show our gym was full of students, families, and friends supporting our students' performances. It was a great evening and our students put on a show to remember! We have a busy January ahead in both academics and extra-curricular opportunities. Our wrestling team will continue to practice and compete and volleyball tryouts have just begun. Information on how to be involved in our school musical will soon be communicated to students. Our grade 7's will attend a bowling trip which is always a huge success with our students. Teachers are currently working on report cards which will be posted and available to parents digitally on their MyCBE account at the end of the month. At that time students will change option classes bringing an opportunity for new learning experiences. -Cheryl McKelvie, Principal |
